Cargo Service Center India (“CSC”) registered in India in the year 1994 started Air cargo handling operations in India as a fully owned subsidiary of Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. (“KLM”). The company is now a Joint Venture company between KLM and two Indian entrepreneurs Mr.Tushar Jani and Mr.Khushroo Dubash (of the Blue Dart Express fame who together have acquired a strategic stake of 51%). Setup to provide air cargo handling at Indian airports, the company began operations in Mumbai in June 1995 by providing air cargo handling to the parent airline, KLM. Today the company is handling Emirates Cargo at Mumbai and Chennai and Singapore airlines at Chennai besides managing the Operation and handling at EICI terminal at Mumbai and Delhi.

CSC is the first private handling company to be ISO 9001-2000 certified for all its operation at Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. Also in another first, CSC is the only private handling company to be given the status of Regulated Agent by ‘Bureau of Civil Aviation Security’ for providing security screening service to airlines at the Express Terminal at Delhi and Mumbai.

The company is building a 2000 sq.mt. facility called the Perishable Cargo Center which becomes operational at Mumbai airport by 1st November 2010. Catering to only Perishable and temperature sensitive cargo, it will be able to process and handle 60000 MT of cargo per annum.

The company was also building a Greenfield air cargo terminal at Delhi airport. Spread over 70000 sq.mt. with an investment of USD100 million, the facility will have capacity to handle close to 1 million MT of cargo. The first phase of the project will be completed and commercial operation will start by 1st October 2010.

CSC is the only ground handling company with exclusive focus on cargo handling company and operating in the niche handling market of the Perishable cargo handling and Express Courier cargo handling. In both the arena, our expertise have helped the airlines increase the capacity utilization of their ULDs by more than 20% therefore increasing flight capacity utilization and maximizing revenue. All at a very competitive handling price.

CSC’s Development

CSC’s current development and Status:

CSC India took a conscious decision to be an Air Cargo handling specialist concentrating on the vertical chain of ground handling. CSC is active in all aspects of cargo handling offering customers global, high quality and one-stop shopping of complete cargo handling services. Having achieved great success and expertise in air cargo handling, CSC has now expanded its business activities to other areas.

CSC is now in four verticals of Air Cargo handling; Bonded Warehousing; Agri business & Perishable Logistics and Training & Consulting.

CSC is the member of Coolchain Association (CCA) (www.coolchain.org) an international association of shippers, transporters and facility operators founded in February 2003 with a common goal to harmonize the global movement and handling of perishables and temperature sensitive products to the benefit of consumer and supply chain participants.
